Wayne Grayson is an editor, photojournalist, and video producer from Dothan, Alabama. He currently works as the digital content director for Equipment World magazine and holds a degree in communications from the University of Alabama. Trained in both the print and visual forms, Wayne seeks to tell stories through all mediums. After finding a calling in the written word in high school, Wayne moved to Tuscaloosa where he was trained in reporting and photojournalism at UA. He worked at the student newspaper, The Crimson White, and the university's alumni magazine where he wrote features and assembled layouts for the publication.
“Telling stories through all mediums.”After graduation, Wayne accepted a job at The Tuscaloosa News where he spent nearly four years as a staff reporter covering everything from finger-eating turtles, rockstar roller derby gals, and long-forgotten baseball fields. On April 27, 2011, Wayne and his colleagues at the T-News began telling the story of the Tuscaloosa community's response to a deadly EF4 tornado that hit the city. A year later, the newspaper staff was awarded the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting. While at the News, Wayne also started a tech blog called "Gadgetron" which spawned a weekly Sunday column.
In June 2012 he accepted a position at Randall-Reilly where he serves as the online editor for Equipment World. He oversees web content, produces video packages, reports from events and shows across the country, edits stories and coordinates the site's newsletter sends and social media posting. On the photography side, in addition to capturing images for Equipment World stories, Wayne enjoys street photography and freelance jobs in his spare time.
